The Love life together with the National Department of Health visited Mabopane Station last Thursday as part of the annual Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Week (10-16 February) to teach and distribute condoms to members of the community.
The Love Life campaign aims to highlight the provision of sexual reproductive health and is in line with Sexual Reproductive Health Month which takes place in February. This is also a way to encouraging people to practice safe sex and cut the rate of STI and HIV focusing on youth in particular.
The campaign emphasizes STI prevention, unplanned and unwanted pregnancies, prevention of HIV, and consistent and correct condom use among the youth.
Ms Tshegofatso Hlahla a Mpintsi said, “partaking in the initiative has been the best thing because not only do I get to learn about health but I am also saving lives by distributing condoms and teaching about sexual health.”

Mr Warren Makweya, a taxi driver at Mabopane Station said it is a good thing that Love Life is providing education about sexual health. “We only know of information we get from the street of which 80% of it is not accurate,” he said.
The Love Life organization can be found in clinics across South Africa and offer various health programs that youth can access.
